Safehouses North Health & Independence Day Young people living in foster care and their families were engaged in a day of activities. Beginning at the Boarshurst Centre in Greenfield. The day was designed to give the young people skills and experiences to live independently in the future.
Activities included:

• Health Walk
• Geocaching

This was followed by a minibus ride taking the families to the Dovestone area of the Peak District National Park. The day was spent discovering the area with Peak District Rangers and the RSPB. Information was given to the families on how to travel to the area independently and about wider health improvement services including quit smoking & sexual health teams and the Lets Walk Programme.
The day was a great success and more families will benefit from future sessions! The children were buzzing about it on the way home, they really enjoyed themselves. We hope to be able to work together again in the future, please let us know if you are running anything you think the children might enjoy.
